Owner Bias is a brand prioritization system that lets you boost specific manufacturers in your recommendations. If you sell products from multiple brands but want to push your own brand or a preferred partner, Owner Bias makes it happen without sacrificing relevance.
Each manufacturer gets a weight percentage (e.g., 60%). This weight multiplies the product's relevance score:
final_score = relevance_score × (1 + weight)
Example:
| Product | Relevance | Brand | Weight | Final Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Product A | 0.85 | Your Brand | 60% | 0.85 × 1.60 = 1.36 ✅ |
| Product B | 0.90 | Competitor | 0% | 0.90 × 1.00 = 0.90 |
Product A wins despite lower base relevance, because your brand has a 60% bias.
Important: The bias doesn't override relevance completely. A completely irrelevant product (0.30 relevance) with 60% bias (final: 0.48) will still rank below a highly relevant product (0.88 relevance) with no bias (final: 0.88).
